Art Bento Box
FOR THIS PROJECT, I WANTED TO COMBINE MY PASSIONS OF REAL TIME 3D RENDERING, DESIGN, PRINTMAKING, PHOTOGRAPHY, AND FABRICATION INTO ONE COHESIVE ART EXPERIENCE. WORKING WITH ARTISTS AND VENDORS ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND ABROAD, I CREATED A MEDIUM SPANNING PIECE THAT IS AN EXAMPLE OF MY AESTHETIC AND AREAS OF EXPERTISE.
how do I create a medium spanning art experience for a friend?
a bento box of art. because i was presenting a varied body of work, i looked towards collections and groupings for inspiration. i added the food element for a bit of whimsy. i chose a building in my neighborhood as the subject matter because of its colorfulness and interesting architecture.
Look Development & Typography
taking photos is where I usually begin every project. it's where I get color reference, inspiration, and true to life reference for my whimsical ideas.
i experimented with photogrammetry as a quick way to get a model of the dust bag into maya. the particular process used only required an iphone camera, while doing all of the geometry calculations in the cloud.
Motion & Color
to save time, money, and space, i prototyped all aspects of the physical pieces digitally in maya. this allowed for decisions to be made efficiently prior to fabrication. (all images in the gallery below modeled in maya, rendered in arnold)
modeling and visualization

interactive visualizations & fabrication
here are some photographs of the final piece! to experience the digital portion of this experience, please head over to fadedbricks.
